An Ode To Shinobi Life Online

The Game and Website That Most People Don't Even Know Exists

Introduction

For the past 8 years, If you were obsessed with Naruto and wanted a 3d MMO about it you might have run into a little website called Shinobi Life Online, In fact the forum and website is still up, however, for how much longer it will be is a decent question. While I might have not played it for many years, I still want to write about this because this little incomplete game gave me dozens of hours of fun when I was in Junior High, and High-School and I’m worried that this is going to go into the darkness without even being remembered in the slightest and to be frank, I don’t want that.

History

This isn’t going to be an in depth play by play, however this might change in the future if I feel like it, for now I’m going to be brief. This game started out with the name of Narusimu by a developer named Vreg the middle of 2013. and was initially a browser game, that required the use of a unity3d plug-in that I can’t remember the name of. The name changed to Shinobi Life Online in the middle of 2014, presumably due to copyright issues. From between 2014-2019, it would receive an occasional update, with a small but fairly active forum, unfortunately I was but a mere lurker at the time due to a wariness of posting online, house rules, and shitty computers. However I remember there being a controversy in 2017 about an active poster named Mars changing his name to Rick for some odd reason I can’t remember. That’s about it.

Conclusion

There’s more to it of course. And the website remains open to this day, although it is almost completely dead at this point, and I recommend you check it out if you’re interested at all; and like I said, I might come back and do a full write up of this website if I ever feel up to it. For now, I just want to thank Vreg for making a game that I spent a lot of my teenage years looking at.
